The information in this book is invaluable; it's the most complete description, written in Western idiom, that I've found so far of the brahma-vihara techniques. These are indeed revolutionary; they express an attitude our culture desperately needs, cutting right through the vicious cycle of paranoia, defensiveness and violence by establishing self-interest as care for the other. As Jesus said, "Love thy neighbor as thyself." Here are directions on how to do that.
At the same time I have mixed feelings about the book:
